   Usage

   Marks an emergency exit. Signs are written in Standard Arabic.

4. مفتوح

   maftūḥ

   Open

   Usage

   On a shop door, often beside French "Ouvert".

5. مغلق

   mughlaq

   Closed

   Usage

   On a shop door, often beside French "Fermé".

6. مغلق مؤقتا

   mughlaq muʾaqqatan

   Temporarily closed

   Usage

   Shown when a shop or site is closed for a while.

7. رجال

   rijāl

   Men

   Usage

   Marks the men's side of a toilet or similar.

8. نساء

   nisāʾ

   Women

   Usage

   Marks the women's side of a toilet or similar.

9. ممنوع الدخول

   mamnūʿ d-dukhūl

   No entry

   Usage

   Shown where entry is not allowed.

10. ممنوع التدخين

    mamnūʿ t-tadkhīn

    No smoking

    Usage

    A no-smoking sign in shops and on transport.
